MODEL: ASTEROID SNARE DRUM
WIDTH 16HP CURRENT: +43mA -38mA What does this do? This is a sound generator module with 3 oscillators + noise generator. This module is a complete mini synthesizer that can easily produce snare drum sounds. A 'trigger' signal is patched in order to hit the snare drum. The bottom row contains an internal mixer where you mix in 2 shell generator oscillators, one thud oscillator, and a noise generator. The Noise generator can be used for your other modules. You can also patch into the discrete transistor vca, breaking the switch jack to replace the noise generator with an external audio signal (synth level). The Filter on the 'Impact' signal path was carefully designed just for snare drum tone control. It sounds very nice. It will not self oscillate, but the Q control can go very high in frequency. There is an accent control circuit in order to vary the loudness of the snare drum. History of the design: The Asteroid Snare drum started out on bread board as a TR 606 snare drum. That design only contains one oscillator, a transistor based noise generator, and a 'clipper' brute vca. It is a nice efficient old design, but it is too simple and boring. I decided to add (2) of the original oscillators, and replaced the noise generator with a digital based noise generator to make sure all production units were alike. The snare drum still was missing fullness, so I designed an addition oscillator called 'thud'. The poor vca from the original design was removing all the additional harmonics, so that was replaced by a discrete vca, and I added tonal controls to the IMPACT signal, and the THUD signal path. All of this amounts to about 200+ smt parts. Far exceeding the original design. I don’t think there is another analog snare drum out there with the Asteroid Oomph. Price $169.00 |

Model: CMOS FX Processor
current:+25mA, -25mA
width: 16hp
Two circuits are on this module.
What does this module do?
**The XOR Drone generator side creates audio. There are three square wave generator that perform xor modulation on each other.
There are 3 linear CV inputs with labeling. You can patch a sequencer, an envelope generator, and vco. There are two AC/DC toggle switch to change the behavior of the CV patch.
When you patch a external vco wave into the XOR generator, it performs a unique hard sync. This is where the term 'CMOS Processor' come into action.
**The discrete VCA portion of the module uses transistors. There is a nice 'rounding' of the sound, a very nice character. There are two CV inputs for the vca; Envelope INPUT, and Accent input. I like to patch a sequencer to the Accent input. An external envelope generator is required.
The Emphasis Button will open the vca, like a gate or hold. There is an output jack to use the button for other modules.

Model: BLM Accented Asteroid Bass Drum
Width: 6hp Current: +13mA,-11mA What does this do? This product is used to produce drum and percussion sounds. You can make 808 style long kick drums, or shorter Tom and drum sounds. The toggle switch is switching between internal capacitors in order to affect the internal oscillator timing. This new updated design has an onboard trigger button, jacks on top, and a slim foot print on the back for the power cable. All capacitors for the circuit are using 5% mylar type. The small trimmer adjusts the decay length. The accented feature on this product allows for dynamic, 'volume' changes of the bass drum. The onboard booster will distort the sine wave into a square-ish wave. Price: $140.00 |
Model: BLM Arcade Kick
Width: 10hp Current: +30mA,-24mA What does this do? This product is used to produce drum and percussion sounds. You can make 909 type of kick drums. The toggle switch on the left chooses between long and short vca decay. The toggle switch on the left chooses long and short pitch envelope decay. Smack knob control lefts you mix in a noise 'paper' sound for the drum. -There is onboard distortion to get techno type of kick drums. -This internal oscillator is triangular core, with internal reset. -The internal trigger conditioner can take audio rate frequencies. -There is a manual push button. Why is there two trigger inputs? You can mix in two trigger sources to create complex percussion patterns. The internal circuit is using logic 'OR' triggering. This product was refined for optimum sound and response from the controls. Part values were changed from the original 909 design. This is not a clone. Price: $165.00 |

Model: BLM Assist Percussion Utility Module MK2
Width: 12hp Depth: 1.5", 1 PCB Stack, Skiff Compatible Current: Current: +18mA, -18mA Decay Envelope Generator, HI-FI v2164 VCA, and Booster circuit. What does this do? This module gives you all the tools needed to make kick drums or percussive sounds using your own vco modules that you have lying around. There is only 3 patch points required to connect this to your VCO module. You connect (2) patch cables to your vco cv inputs, and connect the vco wave output into the ASSIST jack audio in. Think of this as a drum maker module for dummies. It makes it idiot proof for you to get 909-ish kick drums easily. The PIEZO jack input allows you to connect drum pads. The ROLAND V_DRUM pad is recommended. Buy One Now |
